At least 300 ha open to picking, roads in, not too steep. Drive the roads in early and check closures in spring.
Smaller, steeper, lightly burned or harder to reach. Worth it if you’re nearby.
Over half of these burns is park, reserve, conservation or private land, so Pickable doesn’t send anyone there: Big Burn Creek (18% open), 26 Mile Creek (0% open).
Burns are hazardous ground and some are still being fought. Check BC Wildfire Service area restrictions before every trip, and never eat a wild mushroom on an app’s say-so. Pickable doesn’t identify mushrooms.
These rankings use only the fire perimeters and land records: how much of each burn is open Crown land, which way it faces, how steep it is and how close the roads are. They don’t promise mushrooms, and burn severity for 2026 isn’t published yet. See data sources and how Pickable calls morels.
